EMBEDDED SYSTEMS WORK
I spent far too much time in college working on embedded systems projects with a racecar team. Even though I never even wanted to be on the team, I ended up leading the development for the Distributed Battery Management System (left), and later all vehicle firmware.
I led a very strong team,
- Cam Stone, Qualcomm.
- Abhinav Akavaram, Boeing.
- and Eli Nicksic, Boeing.
Left is the Low-Voltage Electronics Box,
-
Drive Control Unit
(top left)
handles various critical functions,
- check plausibility for accelerator pedal position sensors (APPS),
- calculate safety parameters and transmit to motor controller,
- torque and traction control, etc.
- RoadLink (top right) is a telemetry device that publishes CAN frames over LTE in realtime.
Left is a better view of the Distributed Battery Management System (DBMS). The DBMS Segment boards are on top, while the DBMS Controller board is on the bottom.
